Outreach Updates

Storm Peak Laboratory has awarded their annual $500 high school scholarship to Bryce Peters.   Bryce just finished his senior year at Steamboat Springs High School.  He will now be pursuing a degree in Material Science at the University of Washington.  During his senior year, he focused his independent research project on artificial muscles and carbon nanotube technology.  Bryce maintained a 4.0 GPA (unweighted), while working both at the Ski Haus and at the Truck Stop.   Congratulations Bryce!  We wish you all the best!

Ian Berry, a Steamboat Springs High School Senior, worked this summer with the US Forest Service and the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort to install a informational sign in front of Storm Peak Laboratory.  Ian selected this project to complete his community service and become an Eagle Scout.  This sign will provide skiers passing Storm Peak Laboratory with information about the current research and outreach projects at the facility.  In October, the sign was built at Ian's house and installed with the help of several volunteers and members of his boy scout troop.
